I want to serve MY church!
There are not many things that last in life. Anything tied to this earth will be gone. We live on a temporary planet. 2 Peter 3:10 says, "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare."
Since this is the case the next verse asks, "Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives." In other words, we should be investing our lives in serving the Lord and not our selves or the world. Serving the Lord is never a waste of time or effort. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." A life spent on serving God is never wasted.
